I was living in Burlington VT at the time and saw a good chunk of the fall tour that year. In addition to the Cape Cod shows, I was lucky enough to see the Glen Falls Show, 8/31, Rochester, 9/1, Augusta Me, 9/2 the 3 MSG shows 9/4,5,6, Springfield, Mass. 10/24, New Haven 10/25 and the Nassau shows, 10/31, 11/1,2 that fall.

I am duly impressed. I was dutifully attending classes. Though I did change my major so the requirements wouldn't get in the way of the December shows. (Hey, what can you do when they hand out a syllabus that's so highly inconvenient?)

LOL, I know what you mean. In 1981, a couple of buddies and I scheduled our classes for Tues and Thurs only so we could get away for weekend shows. We would leave Thurs evening to get to Friday night shows and return on Monday. This was in Boulder, Co. so we were able to get to any weekend shows west of the Mississippi (mostly west coast). It was tough during the week (12 credits, 4 classes per semster), but we had some wonderful weekends. That only lasted a year though, it was pretty hard.

That is impressive - my best friend & I were seniors in high school and Augusta was our first show (really my second but I don't count UMass because I didn't get it) - and also where we first encountered your magical namesake! Then we did Springfield, Cape Cod and Providence and were duly hooked.

I have such vivid memories of the 1979 shows that I saw, and also many from 1981 and 1982, but 1980 - except for the Halloween simulcast which I watched at the Orpheum in Boston - is a completely undifferentiated blur.
